Looking for reliable Vet Clinic near Sta. Mesa/Sampaloc Manila
Main Post:
Dinala po namin yung cat namin kasi to a vet near us two weeks ago kasi nahihirapan po siya umihi and we noticed a reddish color sa pee niya. Sabi nung doctor wala naman po UTI or any problem when we had him checked. He gave us medicine (antibiotics and vitamins to boost his health).
He was prescribed antibiotics for two weeks so tomorrow is the last day he needs to take it. Pero medyo hirap parin cat ko to pee (although a bit better na before we bought him to the vet two weeks ago) and kanina lang may napansin ulit akong pinkish color sa ihi niya.
Ok lang ba yun, should we just wait it out hanggang mawala yung reddish color? Or should we seek for a second opinion from a different clinic?

Any non VCA vet’s in Ottawa?
Main Post:
Title speaks for itself- Looking for a new vet that isn’t VCA.
Top Comment: There are fewer and fewer hospital that are not big corporation owned but there is plenty that arn't. Especially the smaller ones. The Hamlet Veterinary Hospital isn't and is still taking new patients. We have 5 vets now and we just hired dr Jonathan Harris this Spring. He's a new grad that grew up here in Ottawa.
vet recommendations!

hi! i just recently adopted a cat and i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good vets in hamilton? preferably on the mountain! thanks :)

Mountain Animal Hospital on Upper James across from Canadian Tire is the best. I like how it’s a smaller clinic; the two vets own it themselves and they really get to know you and your pet.
I was a lifelong Cat Clinic patient, but I got tired of seeing different vets every visit and having to explain the same situation (3 legged cat with FIV) over again, when I really needed a vet who took the time to learn about our cat and actually care.
Death of animal at vet & my rights?
Main Post:
Forgive me for grammar, formatting, rambling. It has been a traumatic day.
Pet passed prior to surgery being fixed I need the medical records I have another from the same litter who needs to go under. Also can I pick my own cremation service? Or am I forced to go with the vet recommendation.

Top Comment: I’m so sorry for your loss and for what you’re going through. It sounds like a traumatic experience, and I hope you can find some clarity and support. Here are some steps and things that might help: Request Records • You have the right to request all medical records related to your pet, including the pre-surgery assessment (if any), the anesthetic protocol, and any post-mortem notes. This can give you more clarity about what happened. Itemized Bill • Request an itemized invoice for the services rendered. This will help you understand what exactly you were charged for and whether those charges align with the services provided. Cremation Services • It is not uncommon for veterinary practices to work with specific cremation services, but they cannot legally force you to use their partnered company. If they are refusing a refund to use a different service, it’s worth raising this concern in writing and possibly involving a third party (e.g., legal aid or a consumer protection organization). Report to Oversight Bodies • If you believe the vet clinic acted negligently or inappropriately, you can file a complaint with your state’s Veterinary Medical Board or equivalent authority. They oversee veterinary practices and can investigate if there’s been a breach in professional standards. Look Into Legal Recourse • Depending on the circumstances, you may have grounds to pursue compensation for the loss of your pet and/or the mishandling of the situation. Many attorneys offer free consultations and can advise you whether legal action is worth pursuing. Seek a Second Opinion • If possible, consult another veterinarian about the situation. They can help interpret the records and give an opinion on whether the congenital heart issue explanation holds up or if negligence might have occurred. Financial Considerations • If the clinic refuses a refund and won’t let you transfer funds to another cremation service, document all communications with them (dates, times, and details). This can be useful if you escalate the issue. Raise Awareness • If you discover that this clinic has a history of incidents like this, you can share your experience with local advocacy groups or through public channels (e.g., Yelp, Google reviews) to inform others. Be truthful and stick to factual details to avoid legal complications. Emotional Support • Don’t hesitate to reach out to support groups for pet loss. This is an emotionally charged situation, and it’s important to take care of yourself during this time. This is a tough situation, and you’ve done the right thing by seeking help and looking into your rights. I hope you’re able to find some resolution and peace.
Recommended vets in Edmonton for rabbit care?
Main Post:
Looking for a vet clinic that’s good with rabbits specifically. In the past I’ve been places but they’re not really specialized in small animals. Are there any rabbit owners with advice? I take transit so outside of Edmonton isn’t easy for me to do.

Cayco Animal Clinic. You can message their FB page for inquiries. I recently got my cat dewormed and vaccinated for anti rabies and it cost me 950 (because my cat is fat).

Lakewood Animal Hospital off of Rochdale Boulevard in the North have got me through a couple of really ugly situations in a very compassionate and caring way. Despite living at the literal opposite end of the city, my loyalty to them made the commute worth it.
